Must#: A global collaborative art initiative by Raghava KK

TEDActive is an adventure nearly impossible to put into words. It is an experience shared by activators from all corners of the world, and was described by one such activator as “summer camp for nerdy adults”; this to me is the perfect descriptor. Just like all TED and TEDx themes, it is ambiguous enough to encompass a wide range of things, but specific enough to catch your eye and inspire your imagination.

Everyone whom I had the chance to share this “nerdy” adventure with had a wonderfully unique story to share, passions that grabbed hold of you right in the feelers, and a plethora of inspiring project. One such person was Raghava KK.

An artist and entrepreneur, Raghava has been a part of the TED community since 2010, and is a four-time TED speaker. In his TED talk “What’s your 200-year plan?” he described himself as being “…in the business of making art that will definitely even outlive me.”

Raghava was actually an attendee at TED in Vancouver, but came made the trip to TEDActive in Whistler during the conference to share his newest project entitled Must# (must-hash).

On TED.com his paintings and drawings are described as using “cartoonish shapes and colors to examine the body, society, our world.” And his early cartoonist works as always being “…linked by his challenging opinions on identity, conformity, gender, celebrity, ceremony.” Must# is the latest rendition of both these sentiments, with a twist; instead of using his art to expressing his own observations, perspectives, and opinions, Raghava has selected the tools, set up the work space, and placed it all front of us; a global art collaboration aiming to “explore serendipitous connections and make meaning of what we see.”

The Must# art project, all originating from a single photo and hashtag, is a space for our collective mind to make, share, and experience connections by means of a visual journey. And Raghava has asked the TEDxVictoria to become a part of this global collaboration!

Must# is currently only available on iPhone, but for us android users out there, our opportunity to contribute is not far behind!

To download the Must# app now can go to www.mustha.sh or, if you are like me and excitedly waiting for the android version to become available, you can read more about this amazing artist and/or watch his TED talks by following the links below:
